Jess Monahan, Ph.D.
Education
Jess Monahan earned their Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut in 2020. Their research was focused on teacher expectations of students with disabilities, which has been foundational in their continued work in disability and higher education .
Employment
Jess is a proud Blue Hen, working as the Research Manager for two disability support programs at the University of Delaware. They speak at national and international conferences and have successfully published both peer-reviewed articles and invited chapters about disability, neurodiversity, and mental health. Before starting their Ph.D. program, Jess worked as a public school teacher in Connecticut and managed a disability support program through Louisiana State University.
Personal
Jess lives in Newark, DE. They have three children who keep her on her toes. They enjoy working out, geocaching around Delaware with their kids, and baking vegan treats!
